Thank you for your interest in having your students participate in our art contest and have the opportunity to have their art published. We are proud to create a beautiful full-color, hardbound book for you and your students. Winning prizes and being a published artist becomes an additional reward and incentive for the students who participate in your art program.

Why should our school participate?

A contest is a great motivator for your students. When students know they are creating art for a contest with the possibility of being included in a book, students will often make an extra effort to do the best job possible. For a little extra work, the hopes and dreams of your students can be recorded forever in a full-color hardbound book. Students will be proud to display their work and teachers can also earn a free copy of the art book. Each teacher that has 15 or more students published will receive a free copy of the book that includes their studentsʼ art. This book can be used to excite students about your art program. A free book for the classroom will also allow students to see their work in print.

How many entries must a school have to participate?

As the books are put together by region, a school can have as few as one entry or as many as several hundred entries. Being invited to be published is an honor and not made available to every student who enters.

Is there a lot of extra work for our school?

No. All you need to do is enter your studentsʼ art online or simply tell your students about the contest so they can enter on their own.

Is there any fee to be involved?

It is free to participate in the contest and there is no fee or required purchase to be included in the art book. To be published, we must only receive the entry and then if you are invited to be published you just need to grant permission to publish your art. Any purchase is optional.

Can students enter on their own?

Yes. Entries can be made by a teacher or an individual student. A student can enter as long as they are in grades K-12. They can be home schooled or go to a public or private school.

How do students enter the contest?

Either the art teacher or the individual student will need to go online to enter a digital picture of a student's art. Do not mail art to CelebratingArt.com.

What happens after a student is entered in the contest?

Our judges will review each entry and decide if it should be invited to be published in the art book. The judges will go through the entries again and choose the top contest winners in each grade division of K-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

What are the judges looking for?

The judges are looking for good art. They are not looking for a certain percentage of students to publish. Some classes have excellent art teachers and the result is there may be many students who create excellent work. The best art pieces will be considered to be published and then the top ten in each grade division will be recognized as the overall contest winners.

What type of art will be considered?

Any type of art will be considered including: charcoal, collage, computer graphics, drawing (pen and ink or pencil), fiber/fabric, mixed media, mosaics, paintings, pastels, printmaking, sculpture and watercolors. It is important that the photo of the art represents the art well and is of high quality. As this is NOT a photography contest, photos that are not pictures of art will not be accepted.

How are the students notified if they are accepted to be published or are winners in the contest?

After the contest deadline has passed, if a student is accepted to be published, a postcard will be sent to the teacher and to the studentʼs home or school address. The student will then need to go online to grant permission to publish the art. If a student is a contest winner, a letter will be sent to the student and the art teacher. If a student does not have access to the internet, we ask that the art teacher or school library make access available.

What are the prizes?

The top ten students in grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 will receive a $25 check and their art teachers will receive a $50 check. The students will also receive a copy of the book that includes their work. Teachers with 15 or more students published in the book will receive a free copy for their classroom. By entering the contest, if you are a top ten winner, you are giving us permission to display your art as a contest winner. All artists own the art. We just ask permission to show winners on our website and one time permission to publish art in our anthologies.

When is the book completed?

The books will be completed 20-24 weeks after the end of each contest.

How much will the book cost?

We make every attempt to keep the price of the book as low as possible in order to make it available to as many students as possible. The book is priced at $29.95 plus shipping and handling. Instead of buying a DVD of a movie you watch once, you're purchasing a lifetime treasure that builds on your child's education and achievements.

How do you protect the privacy of the students?

We are educators who care about your students. Privacy is an issue that we take very seriously. We do not share the information with any third party.

Who owns the student's entry?
CelebratingArt.com only uses the art to consider it for awards in the contest and for one time permission to publish each entry. The student owns all rights to his or her own work.

Who is CelebratingArt.com?

CelebratingArt.com works with teachers to motivate student artists and to create a permanent record of the best entries from our art contest. Our company founders, Dr. Tom Worthen, a university professor and his wife Gaylen Worthen, an artist, have worked with schools and teachers for over 15 years motivating students academically.
